Tell Them to Look, and They Will See

Tell Them to Look, and They Will See

In my Graphic Design classes, we war told to get a sketch book so we would start looking at different ads. Realizing why we look at it, why we don’t use what they offer, etc. etc.

I found two ads this weekend. Initially appealing, but eventually disappointing.

One was a Zumbathon (crazy, I know, cause I am SO not athletic). The picture was full of motion, like the silhouette iPod ads from like, ’03 or something. But the dates and things were hard to find, and by the time I had, I’d practically lost interest.

The other was for a 5k run. The text was young and kind of interesting, a cross between grunge and cowboy. The heading was vaguely circular, ‘On the Go 2 Big Mo’ (Big Mountain) the 5k was in the center. Eh, an okay look. But my main problem was that the 4 was a different shade of gray, and ginormously disproportional. It kind of makes you wonder if its like, a 4k run or something.

I totally forgot to put it in my sketchbook. >_> I’ll have to go back to Super One in a couple of days then.

This is the second time that I’ve forgotten this wonderful website. The first time, I made an account and forgot it for most of high school. Sheesh, I’m a terrible person to what is a pretty good artist networking community. If you’re interested in more of my art ( I plan on double-posting what I place here over here as well), you can find me as redfoxblackpanther. Hope to see you there.

Typography…

Typography…

It is a pain in the butt. I still haven’t decided exactly how I’m doing this (or if I’m even doing the girl in the mask…).  But we did a project in my other class today that will help (sort of) with the process. Yay for font monsters. Frustrated right now, but that will hopefully change after some lab time today. Hope to post later with a brighter outlook. :)

Logo Redesign

Logo Redesign

We started a new project in my Graphic Communications class. We’re supposed to attempt to redesign a logo. SOme people picked things like Payless and BMW. One person picked a terrible car wash logo from as Vegas (a lot of room to work there) and other people picked snowboarding brands, one was local and one was Norwegian.

I picked the Animal Clinic of Kalispell. The logo is busy, the images are flat, and I think the colors are really dated. Even though we’re kind of a small town with rustic roots, there are better ways to do down-home family oriented presentation.

You probably want the image, so you know what the heck I’m talking about.

Dang, this is a difficult. I’ve barely started on the project, and I’m already not quite happy with my results.

On a brighter note, my image is amazing. (I didn’t take the shot myself, I found it on Google. It’s brilliant, and I have zero intention of taking cred. I’m just using it as inspiration and practice in a new medium.

I learned a new thing today. A way to make Spirographs. Really easy, just need a shape and the rotate tool in Illustrator. Hope I can use the knowledge to make the lace for the mask on my typography project. :)

Since I’m raving, I bet you’re all curious about the photo, so here it is.

Here I Am! (Again)

Here I Am! (Again)

I used to use this blog for an old high school class, but I cleared out the cobwebs and all my old junk. Now, I plan to use this as a real blog all about me, but, we’ll see how well that goes, won’t we?

So, if you saw it before, its no longer the same thing. If you’re new, well goody for you to watch me start fresh. Wish me luck, I never do well with daily routine.
